Did you ever notice how much of today’s society is based around fear? Not to be a Debbie Downer, but how did that even happen? Why on a normal day with wonderful things going on, do we tend to focus on the what ifs, and the fear of the unknown? As I touched upon in a recent blog post, there is NO point suffocating your brain with negativity. Again, easier said then done, but all worrying does is waste your time, your energy, and reek havoc on your soul. Instead of being afraid, be open. It will shift your entire attitude, and may even put a smile on your face, and an ease to the pit in your stomach. It’s freeing.
You’re not the only one, trust me, what ifs try to creep in and torture my mind on a daily basis. Lately I literally talk to myself. I tell myself that there is SO much goodness going on, and NO reason to “worry” about a negative outcome. As I stated in that previous post, there will always be an outcome and fearing it won’t change the course. I remind myself how strong I am on a daily basis. I remind myself I have a HUGE support system. I remind myself that even though we all see a lot of negativity in the world, it doesn’t mean it’s our destiny. We are entitled to happiness too.
I always think about the movie the “Yes Man” where Jim Carrey instead of saying “No” to everything winds up saying “Yes”, and it changes his entire world. Similarly, when the fears crawl in and you start to feel sick to your stomach envisioning what could possibly go wrong, think about what could possibly go right. Whatever does happen is ultimately the “right” way, and being open to accepting that is half the battle! Just being open to knowing the outcome for better or worse will in fact be the outcome, allows you to take some pressure off of yourself. Instead of thinking about the worst case scenario, envision the best case scenario and KNOW you will find your way no matter what. Seriously, we are humans and we are STRONG! We are capable of so much emotion both good and bad, but we are even more capable of surviving.
So wake up in the morning, know that each day is a NEW day, and look at yourself in the mirror. Tell yourself that you are capable of ANYTHING. You WILL always get through each and every journey, and even the ones that seem to run off your plan, do so for a reason. You never know, you may even like the new path better……
